Location

the independent campus is placed around Dobong-gu, a district of northern Seoul. These are some each Bukhan Mountain and Dobong Mountain. A continuing education center is placed at a previous campus location, on the places of the Unhyeongung palace.

History

A school was foremost established around 1920, as a portion of a cause for improved education which arose away from the March 1st Movement. Its founder was Cha Mirisa (차미리사, 1880-1955), an educator & leader of the Joseon Women's Education Society. At a instance it was referred to as a Geunhwa Academy. Because a title Geunhwa (근화, 槿花) refers to the Korean national flower, it was changed to "Duksung" under pressure from either Japanese authorities inside 1938.

Duksung was officially founded as a college, on the places of the Unhyeongung palace, in 1950. It became the tetrad-season college around 1952. Around 1984, the independent campus was moved to its present location around Dobong-gu. the college became a university inside 1987.
